About Indian Weddings
An Indian wedding is one of the most elaborate and joyous celebrations in any culture. Spanning multiple days and ceremonies — from Mehndi and Sangeet to the main ceremony and reception — each event calls for a different outfit. Indian weddings are vibrant, colorful, and deeply rooted in regional traditions that vary from North to South and across communities.
Wedding Ceremonies & What to Wear
Every wedding ceremony has its own dress code. Here's a quick guide to help you dress appropriately for each event while making a beautiful impression.
Bride — Bridal Lehenga
The quintessential bridal outfit — a heavily embroidered lehenga in red, ivory, blush, or gold with zardosi and crystal work. Taj Fashion carries bridal lehengas for every budget and style.
Groom — Sherwani
A long, fitted coat in rich silk or brocade, worn with churidar and safa (turban). Available in ivory, gold, deep red, and navy. Mojari shoes complete the look.
Mehndi & Sangeet
More playful and colorful — lehengas, Anarkali suits, and Bollywood-inspired outfits in yellow, green, pink, and orange. Less formal but still festive.
Wedding Guests — Women
Silk sarees, designer salwar kameez, or lehengas in rich jewel tones. Avoid white and black unless the dress code specifically calls for it.
Wedding Guests — Men
Silk kurta with churidar or straight pants for guests. Sherwani for close family members. Indo-western bandhgala jackets are a stylish contemporary option.
